On Sunday 30th October, LO opens its 37th National Congress in the city of Aalborg. Among other things, this Congress will be discussing the challenges facing the Danish trade union movement – both at the national and at the international scene.
LO’s Congress is a quadrennial event which gathers LO’s leadership and delegates from its 18 affiliated unions, representing 1.2 million Danish workers.
Congress decides on the priorities for the next four years and elects the candidates for the decision-making bodies.
This time, Congress will also be looking at the challenges facing the Danish trade union movement – both at the national and at the international scene.
International panel debate
To give Congress participants a positive understanding of the European and international issues that are central to the trade union movement, LO has scheduled a panel debate with representatives from the ETUC, TUAC and the ITUC
The two main themes to be discussed will be:
- The economic crisis: The political challenges, the role of the trade union movement and the EU's role in financial policy making.
- The development of the labour market: A new international division of labour and global challenges
The panel debate will be followed by a wider debate on the challenges facing the Danish model.
