New Year statement by LO-President, Harald Børsting: “2012 will be characterized by a series of crucial negotiations with the aim to strengthen the Danish economy and future labour market. The collective bargaining round and tripartite negotiations in Spring will require a great deal of determination and responsibility on the part of both employers, workers, the Government and the opposition.”
- 2012 will require productive cooperation from all sides. Every chair in the Danish Parliament and both sides of industry have a duty to contribute to lifting Denmark out of the financial crisis. No one can sit back and relax before the economy has been improved and workplaces for the many unemployed have been created, says Harald Børsting in his New Year statement.
- We, the true trade union movement, will be sitting at the table during both collective bargaining and tripartite negotiations. We are ready to make our contribution. However, not without getting anything in return.
- It is crucial that we create security for our members so that they do not have to fear for losing their jobs. The opportunities for acquiring continuing education and training must be improved in the wake of the previous Liberal-Conservative Government's cut-downs and we need to ensure more training places for young people.
- We must get to work. However, I am looking forward to this year's events which will demonstrate what the Danish labour market model is capable of. We are ready for the upcoming negotiations and we will contribute with solutions that will help Denmark break free of the crisis, says LO's President.
